🎂 Happy 1st Birthday 🎂

It's just been pointed out to me that it's been 1 year since the relaunch of MixesDB!

So firstly here's a huge thank you to all our contributers, especially those in our All time (Top 100). I'm gonna call out our top 20 from last year because without them this site wouldn't really exist!

This crew of stars contribute new mixes and continually help improve the site with suggestions, reviewing contributions and helping others.

A special mention to User:Martin who started the site almost 20 years ago and helped me fix it up in the transition to the upgraded code base!

A one year recap

It feels like like a lot happened in the last year so here's a quick rundown of everything I can think of!

  • Rewrote the majority of the old code to work on the latest MediaWiki using the Extension & Skin hooks. 🪝
  • As a result we were able to upgrade through 3 major MediaWiki versions with minimal issues!
  • Re-introduced our team of moderators to help oversee the content and contributions 🧑‍🏫
  • Provided a way for old users to migrate their old favorites and watchlists to the new site 👀
  • Restored all the old comments 💬
  • Automated the validation of contributions to ensure they match our title format and have the necessary categories ✅
  • Implemented a new more powerful search 🔍
  • Battled a lot of spam and lots of bots 🤖
  • Search by Soundcloud, mixcloud, youtube, etc urls. 🎵

And the big one... we originally launched as mixes.wiki but finally ended up back where we should've always been www.mixesdb.com.

Here's to more adventures in year 2!
