2008-08-17 - Software upgrade
We upgraded the software today. Mostly it are minor changes you won't recognize. Most recognizable may be:
- Search results now display the search term in the context of the page
- Search results display the thumbnails of image results
- Categories read the total number of included subcategories and / or mix pages
2008-07-24 - MixTurtle.com - The Music Search Engine
MixTurtle.com rocks. It crawls hundreds of sites with direct playback. So this seems to be a good way to research certain tracks and sets or create your own playlists. No download!
2008-07-16 - Advanced Search
Finally! We've being waiting for this feature since we started. The Advanced Search is a very powerful search that lets you search the database with more precision on the results of mix pages and categories. You can combine a search for title and page content with the categorization of the pages. Besides using AND/OR operators you can also include or exclude aspects. A quick category selection lets you include tracklist state and time aspects on the fly to your search. You can combine everything with everything. If you combine in a smart way you can get the exact pages you look for and there is nothing you can't find.
The new search replaces the old "Multi-Category Search". For detailed help see Help:Search. If you have problems, post a comment there.
2008-06-08 - Long Mixes
As requested by some people in the past, we now added a list of mix pages from the database with a duration above 4 hours.
2008-06-06 - RubNub Firefox Add-On
The Firefox Add-on RubNub enhances your address bar with additional functionality. It uses YubNub which is the website solution for it. It comes with thousands of handy commands. Try it out, the command for searching MixesDB is 'mdb ...'. So entering 'mdb mills sonar' in your address bar will perform the search without visiting MixesDB first.
2008-06-05 - Search Plugin
There's a search plugin for the Firefox and Internet Explorer search bars so you can search MixesDB without visiting it first. Simply click the according button in the search bar of your browser when browsing MixesDB.

2008-05-25 - Mass Updates
Since this feature is very powerful (and easy to abuse), it is not accessable for everyone. What that means for you:
- When you add a mix / tracklist, don't mind changing ugly parts if they are in the regular replacement list. Although you can do a lot of beautifying with the find / replace function in the WikEd Toolbar.
- If you have other text that should be replaced (regulary) please PM MDBot instead of changing it manually yourself.
2008-05-24 - Homemade mixes allowed
All homemade mixes / mixes by unknown DJs are allowed now since we are no more a site for downloads. But they must be / have been available online, come with full tracklisting and be added to [[Category:Promo Mix]].
2008-05-16 - Default user page header
Every user page now has a header displayed on top (example). It inlcudes PM (finally!) and E-mail links as well as some stats. We may add more user information in the future there. The header can not be changed / removed by the user as it isn't included when the user edits his user page. After the last 3 changes listed below this is just the next step to more 'user usability'.
2008-05-15 - User names linked in comments
Not worth a news message but worth explaining: If you're logged in and leave a comment, your user name will now be linked afterwards (assuming you don't change your default filled user name in the 'Name' field). The names entered by visitors will stay unlinked. Besides the fact that it's very handy, this is also some fake-protection (we didn't had problems about that, but still better): If the name is linked, the comment was def left by the user. I.e. nobody can create a comment with your user name linked except you.
2008-05-11 - Default text on user pages
All user pages read some default text now (example). It will be added automatically when a user registers a new account. We had a script running and added the same text to all existing but empty user pages. So now we no more have user links as red links floating around (what always made them look like non existing user links).
