MixesDB:Explorer

From MixesDB

The Explorer enables exploring MixesDB from a different kind of view. It is something like an advanced search with customizable result formats. There are 4 different format types atm.

For all the following applies:
  • All inputs except "Title match" are case sensitive. A query for "dj sneak" as category will not find "DJ Sneak".
  • "Title match": The default truncation is %your string%. You can use your own, e.g. your%string% (title would have to start with "your" and include "string" somewhere). Note that file pages end with their file extension, so %your string won't return any results.
  • You can truncate category names using % as placeholder. So %House% will find House, Tech House, Deep House, House (Old School), Vocal House, etc.
  • The dropdown to combine inputs uses logical operators:
AND: The result must fit both criteria.
OR: Either one or the other, or both.
NOT: The result fits the first but def not the second criteria.
  • If a category name is displayed in red in the "Jump to..." row, the category you entered doesn't exist.
  • If your search returns no results, something might be wrong in the combination of your query aspects (like a forgotten year dropdown or category names while looking for Samples).
  • You can't search the page content, e.g. tracklists including certain words. Use the Advanced Search instead.

Explore tracklists and / or file details. Useful for comparing multiple mix pages at once.

Notes
  • The most common mistake is an unticked "Tracklist: none".
  • "Link to minor edits": The "edit" link will tick the minor edit checkbox by default. A little help for mods.
Examples
  • Example 1: Richie Hawtin tracklists with file details.
  • Example 2: Sven Väth Clubnight tracklists.
  • Example 3: Laurent Garnier file details.
  • Example 4: Derrick May ID Samples. Note: Also empty tracklists can use samples.
  • Example 5: 90's House mixes with ID Samples.

Explore DJ charts just like tracklists.

Examples

Find mixes with an audio or video player.

Notes
  • Unlike the other Explorer/Tracklists and Explorer/Images you don't need to define a category and can simply select a year or style and hit "Submit".
Examples
  • Example 1: Essential Mixes
  • Example 2: 2010 mixes with a player.
  • Example 3: Tech House (real Tech House without Minimal) mixes with a complete or incomplete tracklist.
  • Example 4: Minimal Tech House mixes by Richie Hawtin with hidden tracklists.
  • Example 6: Videos from the 2000s.

View images and the pages they are used on.

Notes
  • Images are only categorized by clubs, events or the displayed artist, but not by year.
  • Uncategorized images can only be found via "Title match".
  • The order by filename may be confusing for images that are not properly titled.
Examples
  • Example 1: Resident Advisor images.
  • Example 2: Space images, ordered by filename.
  • Example 3: Romy S. flyers from 2009 (using titlematch).

Returns results as lists with extended query and output options. Atm it's still a bit buggy but works for most cases.

Notes
  • ID Samples
    • They are not categorized at all.
    • Only unsolved samples are returned (which are still used on mix pages).
Examples
  • Example 1: A list of 2010 mix pages, not created by User:MDB and formated as numberd list of clickable page links (e.g. for copy-paste).
  • Example 2: All Derrick May samples uploaded by User:- -. Note that Samples are not categorized, therefor "Title match" is used and only properly titled ID Samples are found.
  • Example 3: Essential Mixes not using the {{StandardShow2h}} template.
  • Example 4: SoundCloud players with bad sound.
